	Why 5 days for foundations You might want to know why we set up this particular course : We are not doing this because we wanted to jump into the highly competitive universe of the ever-growing touristic industry of Chiang Mai. We believe that we teach massage students, not tourists. Neither is it a way to add one more name to the already long list of Massage Schools or courses in Chiang Mai. We've been to a lot of these schools: We found great teachers, and a range of different atmospheres and prices. We will recommend you to certain ones. We just felt strongly that something was missing from all this. We believe massage is first based on sensations and postures before technical skills. Most massage teachers know that Thai traditional Massage is a spiritual practice. To understand the spiritual roots of massage is not to become religious, or superstitious: It is to understand in yourself the state of mind in which one should be to give a beneficial massage... Most of the schools in Chiang Mai will talk about this, more or less briefly, but we believe more should be said.
	Our intentions for this course: Teach you a massage sequence to be practiced carefully, precisely and deeply. A good base for more, a good foundations and habits to devellop your practice in the direction you like. Along with this we would like to introduce you to: some basic meditation techniques, important buddhist concepts related to this traditional art, theory about massage from Thai and other cultures, reflections on the role of the practitioner, his postures both physically and psychologically. This course is to understand how to rely more on your feelings than your mind in order to learn, give and enjoy Thai traditional massage. During the first 18 months of this course, we were teaching only the first 5 days, mostly centered on the theory. A growing number of our students have asked to be able to stay with us longer to learn more techniques in this same spirit... We believe strongly that these 3 weeks will ease your understanding of thai massage and give you useful foundations. The role of this course is also to help answer the questions you might still ask yourself after being in massage schools. The same way you'll find here specific and personalized feed back on your own practice as well as different sources of information. The role of this course is also to nourish your reflection as a practitioner on ethics, body postures, energy management, discernment without judgement, ...
